Logitech Quickcam

I had a Creative Live Ultra webcam that never worked properly. I took my new PC and the webcam to Best Buy. Even the highly-competent Geek Squad couldn't figure out the source of the incompatibility issues, so I bought the Logitech Quickcam. The thing works perfectly. No installation issues and it's got a great picture. Works like a charm with Skype so now Gram & Gramps & Nonna and Grandpa can see Matthew in living color any time they want. Long live Logitech.

INVISIBILITY

Invisibility was always one of the coolest superpowers.
You've probably read about the latest "metamaterials" that may soon make it a reality. READ MORE HERE

It reminded me of this WIRED article I read a few years back too.

Gnarls Barkley...CRAZY

I saw this video for the first time this weekend. I think it's pretty amazing. Like the first time I saw Seven Nation Army.

Passed this huge line at 5th Avenue in Manhattan this evening that extended 'round the block. I'm assuming it was the line for the grand opening of the new apple store. Apparently it's going to be open 24 hours a day. I guess that's for all the folks trying to get their iPods repaired. Apple's got a pretty cool time-lapse thing going on over on their website highlighting the crowds. Amazing.

What's really at stake in the console war

One of the most interesting things to come out of E3 is the brewing war between the next generation video disc formats. Playstation 3 will play Sony's Blu-Ray discs and Microsoft announced today that it will offer an add-on unit for the XBOX 360 that will play HD-DVDs. The console players will be the first units many consumers will own and the quantities of these units sold will likely play a large part in determining which format catches on and becomes "the standard". Because let's face it, there can be only one.

He's Back

Well, at least next year he will be. Microsoft announced today at E3 that Halo 3 will be released in 2007 for the XBOX 360. Abracadaver will rise from the ashes to destroy all who dare cross our path.

Watch the Trailer here.

Summer

Manohla Dargis's MI3 review in the New York Times references "Mr. Abrams's inability to adapt his small-screen talent -- evident in his capacity as the television auteur behind "Alias" and "Lost" -- to a larger canvas.".

Manohla, Manohla, Manohla, give me a break. Mission Impossible III is a great summer movie. Ask me two years from now what it was about and I might remember a few plot points and something about Philip Seymour Hoffman hanging out of a plane, but that's not the point of a summer flick. I came out of the theater fully entertained and I'm psyched about the summer to come. Superman? X-Men? Pixar? Will Ferrell in a NASCAR comedy? Oh, it's gonna be a good one. And I might even enjoy a few days in the sunshine too.

The Day The Music Died

It seems Cinderella had it right all those years ago. In fact, you DON'T know what you got 'til it's gone. My iPod crapped out on me and it looks like I'll be music-less for two to three weeks while they attempt to repair it in Minneapolis. What am I gonna do on the bus? READ???!

I hoped they'd just give me a new one 'cuz I bought the extended warranty, but no. They're going to do everything they can to fix the one I bought. The critically malfunctioning one with the big scratch on the screen.
